Our story

A small Essex firm that commercial clients and homeowners both call back

Trace Electrical Ltd was set up by Ben Skingsley after years working across contractor sites and private homes in Essex and East London. The company is registered in England & Wales (company no. 12103279) and works out of Loughton, which keeps us inside a short drive of most of the towns we cover.

We help three groups of customers. Homeowners who need a rewire, a new consumer unit, an EV charger or a fault traced properly rather than guessed at. Landlords and managing agents who need EICRs and Landlord Electrical Safety Certificates issued on time. And commercial clients, offices, warehouses and schools, who need fit-outs and planned maintenance carried out around their operating hours with RAMS in place.

Where we specialise is the work that needs qualification behind it: EV charge points (we are OZEV approved and a Rolec accredited installer), inspection and testing by a City & Guilds 2391 tester, and facilities maintenance contracts with clear reporting and 30-day account terms.

Our service area runs from Loughton, Harlow, Epping, Chigwell and the surrounding Epping Forest district through to the East London boroughs, Chingford, Walthamstow, Ilford, Romford, Brentwood and everything in between.

Mission & standards

Do the job properly, certify it, and leave the place clean

Electrical work is largely invisible once the plaster goes back on. The only things a customer can judge are how it was priced, how the site was run, and what paperwork they were left holding. We hold ourselves to all three.

Certified and notified, every time

Work is carried out to BS 7671 18th Edition and tested by a City & Guilds 2391 qualified tester. You receive the certification for the work carried out, with notifiable work registered through NICEIC.

Priced before we start

Free site visit and a written quote, small jobs quoted within a day of the visit, larger projects within about a week. Our minimum charge is £150 + VAT, so you know the floor before anyone books a van in.

Clean sites, protected homes

Dust sheets down, cables clipped and routed properly, and the site left tidy at the end of each day. It is the point customers raise most often in our reviews, and it is not negotiable on our jobs.

One point of contact

You deal with Ben and the same small team from quote to certificate. Phone lines are answered 24 hours, and site work runs Monday to Friday 7am–6pm and Saturday 8am–5pm.
